Round Table on the issues relating to management and promotion
of creativity and innovation - Geneva, April 1st, 2004
On April 1st,
2004, the Permanent Mission of Romania organized with the
support of World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) and the European
Organization for Nuclear Research (CERN), a round-table on issues relating to
management and promotion of creativity and innovation. Participants were
officials from the Ministry of Education, Research and Youth, the National Agency
for SMEs and Cooperation, the Romanian State Office for Inventions and Trademarks,
and Romanian inventors.
The round table offered a good framework for debates aimed to raising
awareness on issues related to the protection and promotion of Intellectual
Property in Romania, with particular focus on the huge potential in the field of
creativity and innovation.
The presentations made by the key-note speakers were focused on:
- The
management of intellectual property rights - WIPO cooperation with countries
in transition from Europe - Mr. Jeno BOBROVSZKY - Director, Division for Cooperation
with Certain Countries in Europe and Asia, WIPO;
- Small- and
medium-sized enterprises as driving force behind innovations and the knowledge-driven
economy - Mr. Guriqubal Singh JAIYA - Director, SMEs Division, WIPO;
- Promotion
of inventive and creative activity all over the world through
recognition and protection of intellectual property rights - Mr. Valdimir YOSSIFOV-
Director, Division of Infrastructure Services and Innovation Promotion, WIPO;
- The research and development
(R&D) activity: priority for the societies in transition. The technological transfer
-determinant stage of the innovation process - Dr. Hans Falk HOFFMANN -Division on
Computing and Transfer of Technology, CERN;
