The ceremony of the official opening of the United Nations House in
Romania took place on Monday, 13 October 2003, in Bucharest, Bulevardul
Primaverii 48 A.
The ceremony was honoured by the presence of HE Mr. Ion
Iliescu, President of Romania, HE Mr. Adrian Nastase,
Prime Minister, UN High officials, namely Mr. Mark Malloch Brown, UNDP Administrator and Special envoy of
the UN Secretary General, Mr. Kalman Miszei - director of the UNDP
Regional Office for Europe, and Mrs. Soknan Han Jung, UN Resident
Coordinator in Romania, other Romanian officials and representatives of
the academic community and the mass-media.
The UN House hosts the offices of the six specialized agencies of the
UN System represented at Bucharest: the United Nations Development Program
(UNDP), the United Nations Programe for HIV-AIDS (UNAIDS), the United
Nations Population Fund (UNFPA), the United Nations Information Center
(UNIC) and the Liaison Office for the World Health Organisation (WHO).
